64 and 128 bit video cards on a 32 bit OS?
March 10th, 2010 | Posted by admin under enart.qthx.com withThe question you need to ask yourself is what purpose will the card perform,
For regular document processing a 64 mb card will be fine,
for more graphics you may consider a 128 mb card.
a regular vga (blue connection) I would use a 64 mb,
If my video connection is DVI (white) I would get a 128mb card.
the DVI will make better use of a 128 mb card.
Of course you need to know which type slot your mainboard uses for video.
The older pc's use a AGP (Advanced Graphics Port)
A newer one probably uses a PCI Express.
The best way to determine what you need is to remove the old one and take it to be matched up.
- that's usually when there are 2 different versions of the card...128MB or 256MB. The 128MB card uses 64-bit memory, the 256MB card uses 128-bit
So YES it will work it will work. The 128 part is in MegaBits (MB) and this is totally different from the 32 Bit part which relates to your processor.
The 128 MB is the amount of onboard RAM (memory) on the Video Card. The more the better!
You could have 128,256 or 512MB - they all would work.
The only thing you need to find out is whether your computer uses an AGP or PCI-Express slot for it to fit into.
Then you need to buy AGP or PCI Express version of the card you are looking at accordingly.
