Design School (Senmon)
March 10th, 2010 | Posted by jack under enart.qthx.com withI've been to the college's website, and that was about all the info I could gather. Any other sources? Like whether it's a reputable school and what design courses it's well-known for.
And with a senmonshi, can you proceed to a uni after that? or if you were to work, is it even recognised?
sorry for the doubts, but I would really appreciate the help, thanks! =)
So you will be going to TDG?
I thought you were gone from this forum?
1 month and no reply at all.

=X oh dear, i didn't realise it has been almost a month. I thought it was something like an auto-response system. Cos' previously I was sent an email when there was a reply, and since my last post i didn't receive any, so I thought no one replied.
Yup, i'm considering. which senmon gakkou are you in? you there on scholarship?
I heard about it,
but thats all I can give you.
Since it's almost spring, you should be able to apply for the 願書 from the school. No idea if they would post it to Malaysia tho. Some school would. And in that 願書 would list all the detail on the school that you need to know.
for the other, Yes and Yes. You can proceed to University after that, and It is recognize so you can get a WV with it. definitely.
And actually
http://www.tdg.ac.jp/ryuugakusei/index2.html
got some of the answer that you need, like if you can work with the 専門学士 or not.
If you take a look at its name, "Gakkou Houjin, Senmon gakkou, Tokyo Dezaina Gakuin" should already give you the answer.
The answer is it's not a university.
So I'm guessing that you can't go there on a MEXT scholarship.
If you still doubt me, check here.

TDG seems like a wonderful place to be, from what I've seen it has well organized classes and their graduates, apparently, are immediately taken by big design companies to work.
Yes, a lot of Senmon Gakko have that charm point. Since thats how they attract their customer(students).
e.g. my school have been showing off about the students that went to Square Enix, Sega, Konami. Last year it was Square Enix I think. I wonder what this year going to be.
Advice : go to a university.

thanks kirirao, i was wondering too if i could get advanced standing into uni courses with the senmonshi - probably start from year 2/3?
Are you in a senmon gakko too?
For example, this university

if you graduate from this senmon school

Added info:
oh, and there should be a corner in the school somewhere, where they put up lists of university where you can enter and get credit transfer. Well, my school got it, I'm guessing there should be in other school too. Unless the school don't give a crap about the student welfare, which is impossible since the student = money. heh
Just so you know, senmon gakkou doesn't offer alot of scholarship.
University does, but not senmon.
Unless you're one of those bright students that never had a test result lower then A and never skip school even once even if you're sick as hell.
Then scholarship is pretty easy to comeby.
I've also noticed TDG whilst researching for my future uni recently. I shall apply for MEXT scholarship in two years time, when I gradute from high school.

There's just one small problem. How can we know if TDG is actually an institute offering only yearly or 2 year courses. The site's nearly impossible to translate since it has been entirely made in flash.
Do you happen to know if it's a recognized university by the state and do you get a BA or whatever degree after graduation?
I am intend to study design that might major in Packaging Design
Do you have any reference what university that have good reputation in their packaging or in the design (graphic )..
So far, University that I can found is only Tama Art University. What do you think about this Uni?
Hope may hear from you ... really need a guide :thankyou:
